Emirati Women’s Day 2023: Everything you need to know

Today marks the 8th Emirati Women's Day, first celebrated by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF). In order to recognize and honor the efforts and accomplishments of Emirati women to the country's advancement and development, she created Emirati Women's Day in 2015.

The date of August 28 was chosen to honor Emirati women since it is the anniversary of the General Women's Union (GWU), which was founded in the UAE in 1975.

“Every year, we proudly announce an inspiring theme for Emirati Women’s Day, and this national occasion is a priority for us. This day highlights a set of objectives which aligns with the country’s global leadership in recognizing and empowering women,” observed Sheikha Fatima.

We Collaborate for Tomorrow is the theme for this year, according to Sheikha Fatima, in keeping with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's proclamation of 2023 as the "Year of Sustainability." It highlights the UAE's unwavering dedication to looking for ground-breaking solutions to problems related to energy, sustainability, and climate change.
